Sleepy Boy

For three nights in a row this week, Taisei slept 14 straight hours without even a peep. Our quick trip to Vegas last week must have totally wiped him out. The last night there, he went to bed at 9:30 pm and woke after 11 am. The night we got back, he went to bed around 8 and got up after 10 am. Then he did that several nights in a row! And, he's still taking 2 and 3 hour naps in the day. Lately, the boy can SLEEP. Yes, we feel glad that he knows how to sleep. But it wasn't luck, mind you. We consciously tried to be patient and consistent with teaching him to sleep. (Partly, that's because I don't sleep well and I don't want Taisei to have to deal with that.) Of course, not all kids will sleep this much, but this guy is definitely always happier when he gets enough sleep. Lately, he's getting enough.

During this period of "super-sleep," there is no crying or whining for mama when he wakes. He is ready to play. You can hear a calm "mama?" He starts singing if we don't get him right away. It's beautiful! If he's not that tired at bedtime, he sings the same song to put himself to sleep too. Oh yeah - Wami just reminded me that we have a clip of it. I'll attach it. There's really nothing to visually see, so turn on your speakers. This really should be a podcast, but oh well. If you listen closely, you'll notice that there are only 3 lyrics: "mama," "hiro," and "baba"
