Seeing The World Right Side Up
No new screen captures to give you this time, but I did finally get a phone call from Wami. She told me that yesterday Taisei decided to sit up. Yay! :) Just after the 7 month mark. He was kinda slow on that one. Now he just sits whenever he feels like it. Funny boy. There goes another milestone* I missed. To get around, he's still traveling "commando style" - on his stomach. Maybe he'll wait until he's home with daddy before he decides to start crawling - definitely before walking. Or maybe like the rest of the Yu kids (and now one Severson kid too), he'll never crawl. We'll see. 10 more days - woohooo! That reminds me - I'd better get back to baby-proofing! Please give us any pointers on this if you have any.
*By the way, to us these milestones are just for fun. As long as the baby seems reasonably healthy, we truly believe there is little merit to the 3 month milestones, 5 month milestones, etc. Taisei's been ahead on some and behind on some, but we don't care. The only thing checking off those boxes will do is stress out the poor 1st time parents. So don't compare and don't stress!
Taisei Goes To Japan
Here are some screen captures from dvds that Wami sent me. Please excuse the horrible quality. They're all I have at the moment and so these videos are near and dear to me. Don't make fun of them! :)
Wami and Taisei flew into Osaka and immediately went to the Kitano's, her family when she was at college and first baptized. Naomi gives Taisei his first drink of non-mother's-milk, mugicha, after a hot Japanese bath.
Here's Taisei playing with Ryu, Yuya and Elika. Elika's going to come spend Christmas with us and then go attend english school at BYU's ELC in December.
Finally, the motherland Takaoka! Here's Grandpa, or An-chan, as he has named himself for Taisei. Wami's still trying to sneak a picture of Grandma.
Taisei and Great-grandpa! To the right is Wami's cousin, Mari, and her baby, Konon.
Bugs Bunny Look
An update from Japan! At 6:30 am this morning - 9:30 pm in Japan - Wami gave me a call to tell me that Taisei's teething. He has the two middle teeth coming in from the top! He hasn't been particularly grumpy yet. Wami said maybe that's why he woke up crying once or twice at night. Hopefully he can continue to get sleep. For me, I almost felt sad to hear the news. Not because I want Taisei to never be able to chew food, or because I want him to stay a baby forever. I guess I just felt disappointed that I'm missing some growing moments in his life. And maybe it's a sign of transition from his baby-baby stage to mobile-baby stage. I know. It's not even that big of a deal. I'll see him soon again. (And he'll have two big teeth when he smiles at me.)
