Second Birthday
Shortly after our return from Japan, Wami had the energy to stage a big birthday bash for Taisei. We invited all his local friends. All of them spoke Japanese except for one Chinese speaker and two Utahn neighbors. Auntie Esther came up too. Everyone had a great time eating cake and opening Taisei's presents. We didn't expect it to be such an event, but we should have expected it, with so many kids screaming and running around.Cake - the (Japanese) kids were enthralled with Wami's creation. This is Taisei's favorite kiddie-cartoon character, Anpanman (tranlation: red-bean bread man). Maybe the Japanese equivalent of Thomas or something like that. The collective devouring of this cake was the only moment of silence during the party.
Once she saw the cake, R. could not stop repeating "anpanman" the whole time. It was so cute. To all the non-Japanese speakers, apparently it sounded like "obama." :)
Thanks to all his great friends and family for coming and bringing all the nice presents!
